mnmlscholar has migrated to le substack

I’ve moved the blog over to Substack. New posts, updates, and resources are available over on yonder platform.

mnmlscholar blog scribbles on over here

This site will remain open as-is for about a year while I finish transitioning the mnmlscholar archive over to Substack’s servers. Then we’ll ensure the mnmlscholar.com url brings you right to the shiny and fresh Substack version of the site. Easy peasy.

What does this mean for those with RSS feeds?

RSS feeds to the mnmlscholar.com url will go dark in the short term. The temporary mnmlscholar.substack.com url offers easy paths to subscribe for email and for trusty RSS automation. Wahoo.

Long term, RSS feeds to this url should reactivate when I move this domain over to the new Substack servers.

Best of both worlds … after some temporary choppy seas.

Why all the fuss?

I’m a firm believer that technology should work for me. Apps and publishing tools should ease my ability to think in writing.

Squarespace is invested in serving e-commerce businesses with easy-to-use webtools — which it does well. Writing and editing posts, especially from markdown imports as I do, have lost the nuanced functionality that made posting with Squarespace enjoyable for me. My workflow is now a mismatch to how Squarespace has resourced its post editor. Posting has felt more a chore than a joy.

I would need to overhaul how I write and upload images to continue within Squarespace’s editor. The inverse of my technology philosophy is working to suit the app’s functionality. Naw.

Substack is a text-forward medium more in line with my own process. I’m committed to sharing what I’m using and how I’m using it. This blog is fun to write. And meeting awesome people through comments has been life-giving.

Substack’s editor matches well my existing writing process and syncs with the software living at the heart of my blogging workflow. A happy fit.

Join me on Substack?

I’ve found a new internet home. Like a snail with a new shell, time is needed for me to fill it in with ramblings, reflections, and retellings of my stationery adventures.

I’m excited. I hope you’ll continue on this analog journey alongside me :)
