The bookend approach to inking up for commonplacing
I cleaned two inked pens in preparation for this week. Two threads drive my thinking. The novelty of pen and ink combinations motivates me to get into my work. New choices are always welcome — and effective.
Also, a week of iron gall bravery raised my anxiety. I want my stationery to offer joy, not worry. So, a week without incident or pen damage is capped. I’m happy with how Spring Rain did last week.
Growing passed the iron gall terrors
I own one iron gall ink: Kala Nostalgia Spring Rain. I bought it for the paperwork at my wedding. Spring Rain’s iron gall qualities make it waterproof. Permanence felt appropriate and meaningful. Inked and cleaned within 24 hours. The iron gall terrors, indeed.
The 2021 summer pen show collection
I chose six pen and ink combinations in anticipation of the 2021 DC Pen Show. For the first time since starting this blog, my currently inked is more about sharing with others than about my own writing.
The beauty of analog stationery is that it runs out
This has been a recovery week. I spent four days off of my phone, with few exceptions. My head lay in books from my mountainous to-read pile.
Reading helps me recharge. A trying school year and six weeks of travel saw me feeling ragged. Consequently, I read a lot this week. Four of five weekdays were spent reading. I feel like myself again now.
